Social Distancing Survival Guide

Social Distancing Survival Guide

Social Distancing Survival Guide

This time we are currently living in is so challenging for people all across the world. Whether you are afraid of losing your job, saddened by not being able to enjoy your graduation, wedding, or other important event, scared of a loved one falling ill, or feeling lonely, there are so many reasons to fall into a bit of a pit. Because of this, I decided to create a social distancing “survival guide” meant to help lift everyone’s spirits and provide ideas of things to do during this hectic and challenging time. I know many of these activities and items are privileges and I am grateful to be in a home where food is still on the table and my safety is not at risk so by no means do I mean this to be a literal survival guide for this horrible pandemic. Please enjoy and reach out if you have any other ideas of how to make this situation a little bit brighter.

What I’m Reading

As much as I love reading for fun, I sometimes struggle to pick up a full length book when I am already overwhelmed with so many news articles about what is happening. Because of this, I have been going through a daily devotional and journaling a bit about it every morning. Currently I am loving Live In Grace, Walk In Love  by Bob Goff! This book is meant to be read once a day throughout the year but can be picked up at any point and has some amazing points about perseverance and loving others well.
I am also hoping to start reading Do What You Love And The Money Will Follow by Marsha Sinetar.

What I’m Listening To

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a major hype woman of my absolute favorite podcast The Porch. The porch is a series of recorded sermons from Watermark Church in Dallas, TX and has some great stuff out right not about coping with anxiety during this challenging time.

If you are looking for something more about health and wellness I am a huge fan of The Health Code. This Australian couple is beyond adorable and gives some amazing advice about keeping yourself in the best mental and physical shape.

What I’m Baking

I recently found a recipe for sweet spinach banna muffins and pancakes from @yummytoddlerfood (can be gluten free as well!)

Only necessary ingredients are

  • 2 eggs

  • 3/4 cup nut milk

  • 1 cup oats

  • 1 cup banana

  • 1 tsp. baking soda

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 1 tsp. vanilla

  • 2 cup spinach

  • 1 tbsp butter or coconut butter as a dairy free alternative

What I’m Eating

To be honest I’ve been snacking a ton to cope with the stress from all of this. The first few days were not as healthy as I would like to admit but am back to a healthy lifestyle now. Some of my favorite snacks are Go Macro Bars, Dried Apricots, and Trader Joes chocolate covered espresso beans

What I’m Wearing

To be honest I have spent the majority of my time in loungewear but have been trying to make an effort to at least get up, do my hair, wash my face, and put on cute loungewear or athleisure. I have been living in my new tie-dye sweats from Madewell along with my Kyrgies slippers and have been throwing on workout clothes from Fabletics to try and motivate myself to get moving everyday.

How I’m Staying Active
So many companies are accommodating and doing everything they can to provide amazing at home workouts! Peloton is currently doing a 90 day free trial that includes workout that you do not need a bike to do. I have also been following Orange Theory closely and watching when they post their online workout streams! If you are more into short workout inspiration videos over full length classes, check out Lauren Gores (the founder of Summer Fridays) for some adorable squat and arm videos featuring her little toddler and hunky husband!

How I’m Practicing Self Care

Lastly, I think it is also insanely crucial to continue to take care of ourselves during this time of panic. I have been doing this by putting on some of my favorite Spotify playlists (Incomparable, Seaside Groove, & C1), journalling, applying some of my favorite face masks (Tula & Derma E), and continuing to check in with loved ones!

Keep doing your part by social distancing! Stay safe everybody!
